Micro on Madison
Building a Model for Affordable Housing
Near the heart of downtown Phoenix, on 12th and Madison Ave, sat a vacant trash ridden lot; until one local nonprofit decided to change things. Build Us H.O.P.E. is the housing arm of Singleton Community Services. Their mission is to end homelessness, specifically among the members of our community who have given the ultimate sacrifice, Veterans. To do this they build tiny home communities.
The vacant property, across the way from the Central Arizona Shelter Services facility and other government buildings, was an opportune location to make a statement about the Affordable Housing Crisis and the homelessness it has created. Build Us H.O.P.E. brought the community together to clean the site, and construct a tiny house, to showcase a true model for affordable housing.
